Great news – Lights! Camera! Access! Career Exploration Summit is expanding to Silicon Valley during the Global Accessibility Symposium on Friday, May 17th, 9:00am-6:00 pm at the Mountain View Computer History Museum.

If you, or someone you know is an aspiring technology and media professional who is Deaf or has disabilities and is a high school transitioning senior, recent college graduate, or a veteran with a disability, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Deadline for participant applications is Monday, May 6th at 8 pm PT.

In partnership with the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, The Disability Media Technology Alliance, is hosting on Friday May 17, 2019, the Global Accessibility Symposium sharply focused on career opportunities, advancing leadership, and showcasing innovations in accessible technology. As part of our event we will be hosting a Lights! Camera! Access! 2.0 (LCA 2.0) Career Exploration Summit. LCA is for the Deaf and individuals with disabilities to explore media and technology career opportunities, with the goal to Increase employment in-front-of and behind-the-camera/keyboard.

If selected you will have an opportunity to be mentored by industry professionals and make connections with employers eager to recruit  individuals who are Deaf or have disabilities in order to develop the next generation of products that will revolutionize how all of us interact with the world.

You will participate in workshops during the summit and have ongoing support in your career exploration journey. During the summit you will attend workshops including,

  • Resume Review, Speed Interviews and Flash Mentoring
  • Networking to Achieve your Career Objectives Workshop
  • Self-Disclosure Workshop: How to Leverage Disability to Sharpen Your Competitive Edge

The Disability Media Technology Alliance mission is to galvanize/integrate disability, media and technology stakeholders to fortify/solidify access and advance opportunity in disability inclusion, media representation and technology accessibility.

The DTMA was created in 2018 in response to a need to bridge the communication gap between the disability community and Corporate America. Founded by a collaborative of disability, media, technology, health care, market research and project management executives with and without disabilities who recognize the power and potential of convergence in markets and more cross-functional success in organizations. DMTA founders bring decades of expertise to their individual and collective consulting work and formed an alliance to drive the convergence of efforts in disability inclusion, media representation and technology accessibility. The purpose is to widen the alliance, in time so like-minded professionals and executives in the gig-economy find a mastermind approach to planning, implementing and realizing convergence success with measurable and replicable results. This success will deliver a world with fewer barriers and more access, opportunity and community.

The May 2019 Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) and our Global Accessibility Symposium, Technology Showcase and LCA2.0 Career Exploration Summit will activate on-going activities to maintain momentum for employers and Summit participants, from GAAD 2019 – GAAD 20/20.
